Winter Break

Okay, so we´d joke about the Bolivian ¨winter,¨but really it is cold now. Normally the sun comes out during the day at least a little bit, but no sun and all I wanted to do all day was cuddle up in my warm bed with a good book and some bon bons...or even better would be to relax in a hot steamy bubble bath, neither of these things being possible here, not only because we don´t have water right now, yes that´s right. Actually today, the day i´m publishing this, we have water in our bathroom, but we have been having water problems for over a week now and many of the girls bathed outside the other day. The good news is, we have one faucet outside that works, so that´s how we´ve been filling up tubs for dishes, cooking, teeth-brushing, etc. so we´re not totally left cold and dry.

Winter vacation means, sleeping in, lazily doing chores without a rush, not much bathing for the cold (and now water issues), reading and the girls have to work on their labor (sewing class). Then we can play a little or chat, maybe watch t.v. and of course hw time (the profe came the first week). Many girls, like more than half, have left for the 2nd and 3rd week to visit relatives/family, so now the hermanas and us have been working with the girls. I´m in charge of kinder girls´homework, so that´s been fun and Angela´s been doing some awesome 1 on 1 work with some girls. We also have had Susan now for a month, she´s from Germany and will be here two more months. She´s been a lively and fun addition to the hogar. She even made an amazzzingg chocolate cake with some of the girls yesterday for dessert. YUM!

The kinder girls have a lot of coloring and cutting and glueing projects, so yes quite messy, but it´s fun. It has also been nice having time in the morning to read and such. I finished one book and am now reading a good size book in Spanish, and it´s actually going well. I had to abandon my last attempt at reading spanish, but this one is a little easier and more interesting, so I´m determined to finish it soon.

Well, day off so have plenty of things to do in the city, prob. meet up with a friend and
then go to dance. I´m teaching my 8-count today, so hope they like it!
